Kaappu
AruNacha vararketra akshara maNa maalai saatra
KaruNagara Ganapathiye karam aruLik kaappaye

Kaapu literally means protection. This is the invocation verse dedicated to Lord Ganapathy, remover of obstacles. It is traditional and customary to begin any auspicious activity by invoking Ganapathy.

Explanation
To compose this garland of a song made of letters (akshara = letter, maNa = wedding, maalai = garland) that’s suitable for the Lord of this song, Arunachaleswarar,  this prayer is made for you to lend your holy hand, O Ganapathy.Bhagavan is invoking the lord of obstacles to lend him a guiding hand before he begins the  marital garland of letters dedicated to Arunachaleswara.
