Welcome to GlucoTrak App

Welcome to GlucoTrak, a simple app for diabetics developed by a diabetic.
GlucoTrak is a simple, straightforward, no fuss app. It doesn’t require social media log-in, or your personal details. It lets you log in your sugar readings and keep track of sugar levels, and allows you to store your test reports, articles and recipes in one place. Just snap a photo (or select from your photo library), and add to the Reports Library!  It also connects you to various low carb and vegetarian recipes, as well as exercises including yoga. It also provides links to a range of informative videos on different types of diabetes which I personally found useful in understanding the condition.

How to use the app - intro to the sections
Log screen
To log in your glucose readings:
Step 1: Click the Log Readings icon
Step 2: Click the + icon
Step 3: In the screen that appears, add your readings. Enter the time when you take it (fasting, after meals etc) and the readings, in mmoL or mgdL.
Step 4: Click the ‘Date’ field, select date and time from the calendar that pops up below.
Step 5: Hit ‘Save’ button.
Step 6: You will be taken to the log screen which will display your readings even after you exit the app.
Record readings on a regular basis and keep track of your sugar levels.

Understand Diabetes & Lo Carb recipes
These two sections have links to rich and useful information from Diabetes UK and Dr.Berg. I personally these very helpful. You’ll also find diabetic-friendly recipes from Dr.Berg and Headbanger’s Kitchen.

Reports Library
Store all your reports in one place. Choose from your photo library or scan and save it here. See a nice recipe or an article? Snap and save it here. All your information in one place!

Talks and Exercises
This section gives you information by Dr.Berg on understanding your condition better. I found these videos enlightening. It also links you to a good exercise regimen including yoga postures from various sources.

Permission obtained from Dr.Berg, Headbanger’s Kitchen and Diabetes UK for use in the app.

Background
When I was diagnosed with Type 2 in 2011, I wasn’t told why I got it. The doctor simply said, ‘if you are over 40, have someone in the family with diabetes, then you’re likely to get it’.  And I was prescribed Metformin and statin.  End of discussion.
Since then I’ve been doing a lot of research online and offline to understand why people get diabetes.

I found the answers and explanations from various online sources (Personally I found Dr. Berg’s YouTube channel extremely useful) and books (‘The case against sugar’ by Gary Taubes) in understanding the condition. I discovered keto and low carb  recipes which have helped me keep my sugar levels in check.

So with all the information I’ve gathered over time, I designed GlucoTrak to help fellow diabetics deal with the condition and make informed decisions.

GlucoTrak is a compilation of all the information I personally found useful, in one app. I hope it helps you the way it helped me keep my sugar levels under control and stay healthy.

T&C
This is not a replacement of consultation with your doctor or medical advice nor is it a definitive source. All the information given in the GlucoTrak app is to be used at the discretion of the user. Always consult your doctor before making any changes to your lifestyle. You can use the app to understand what diabetes is and achieve clarity on how to manage the condition and make informed decisions.  Personally I found that a combination of the right diet and regular exercise is useful in controlling my sugar levels. Stay healthy.
