meegaman illamal maagaatralai kalam
Aagamal kaatharuL Arunachala

Meaning
Arunachala, please shower you grace on me so I don’t get  tossed about in the sea storm of samsara without knowing where the shore is, like a ship without a sailor being tossed in a sea that’s buffeted by a devastating hurricane.

Explanation
Like a directionless ship without a sailor (captain) that’s tossed about in a severe storm, I am being tossed about in the sea of samsara buffeted by the typhoon of passions and material desires. Please guide me to the shore by making me look inward and protect me as my gnana guru (wisdom guru), prays Bhagavan.

Earlier, he pleaded with the lord likening himself to a tender creeper looking for a strong branch to grow on (paingodiya naan patrindri vaadamal verse), similarly he prays to Arunachala to rescue him from the sea of samsara.

This is my attempt at translating T.R.Kanakammal's Nool Thirattu in English for those devotees who don't understand Tamil. Hope it helps you. Ramana Saranam! Periyava Saranam!
