nondhidaa undranai thandhenai kondilai
Andhagan nee enakku Arunachala

Meaning

Arunachala! Even though I made no effort or penance to attain you, you gave yourself to me and took me in exchange, and killed my ego consciousness (jiva bodham). You are the lord of death in this instance.

Explanation

By ‘nondhidadhu undhanai thandhenai kondilai’ Bhagavan referring ti the fact that Arunachala bestowed atma sakshatkara (self realisation)  on Bhagavan without him doing any effort or penance, thus helped him not drown in the ocean of samsara, and in return took Bhagavan in exchange (nondhidadhu means without ache/pain caused by effort).

Seeing this act of Arunachala it seems He is blind as He gave Himself, the highest and most precious of all gifts,  in exchange for this useless me, says Bhagavan. Since the lord does not know the value of exchanged goods Arunachala indeed is a loser says Bhagavan.

This is my attempt at translating T.R.Kanakammal's Nool Thirattu in English for those devotees who don't understand Tamil. Hope it helps you. Ramana Saranam! Periyava Saranam!
